The Washington Post has reported that persons close to the White House have confirmed that Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller is now investigating President Trump for possible obstruction of justice in the FBI investigation of Russia’s role in the 2016 elections.
The investigation includes a hard look into whether or not there is any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, the Post reports.
This marks a turning point in the investigation previously headed up by former FBI Director James Comey, who was fired by Trump
under circumstances that raised the appearance of impropriety. There have been rumors that over the past few days Trump had considered firing Mueller
as well. Doing so now, however, would probably invite the filing of articles of impeachment.
