Morning Commuters Face Major Delays Following Deadly Collision
A fatal crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck shut down portions of Orange Blossom Trail early Monday and caused significant disruptions to the morning commute.
Authorities said one person died after the vehicle collided with the truck near State Road 417. Emergency responders remained on scene for several hours as investigators documented evidence and crews worked to clear the roadway.
Traffic was diverted around the crash area while law enforcement conducted its investigation.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim pending family notification.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the collision, including vehicle movements, roadway conditions and whether speed or impairment were factors.
The crash is expected to renew attention on safety along heavily traveled freight corridors that carry both commercial trucks and commuter traffic.
Drivers were urged to seek alternate routes during the closure.
Additional information is expected as the investigation continues.
