An Escambia County jury has found Bradley Jean Hubbard not guilty of having sex with the family pit bull. Bradley was arrested in charged in January after his father’s girlfriend, Melissa Parsons, reported that sexually abused the dog numerous times.
According to the Pensacola News Journal, Parsons testified that she physically saw the dog being abused around Dec. 19, and when Hubbard dragged the dog into his room again a few days later, she said she tried to stop the abuse.
“I begged him to let her out, and I called his dad and said ‘Please, please tell him to let her out,'” Parsons said.
She then called the Sheriff.
Veterinarian Andy Hillman testified that he examined the dog less than a week after Hubbard was arrested and noticed the dog had severe genital trauma. There was no evidence, he said, of semen inside the animal at that time.
The 23-year-old Hubbard told the jury he was not responsible for the severe vaginal trauma to his dog, and Parsons admitted she had a prior felony conviction and a charge for making a false official statement. Parsons’ was the only alleged witness to the abuse.
The jury reached its verdict after about two hours of deliberations Thursday.
