Racism the Day After the 2020 Election is Over
By Roger Caldwell When this article is published, it may be too early to declare a presidential winner in the for the 2020 election. Or maybe it is very easy to declare a winner because the Democrats or the Republicans have won by such a large exceeding margin. It definitely matters, but systemic or institutional racism will still be a major challenge with very few solutions, and policies after the election. Everyone in the news media is talking about voter suppression and the intimidation of the election with many White supremacist organizations and groups. In 2020, it would appear that these egregious activities would not take place after 100 years of an Ocoee Massacre in 1920. The ironic thing about America in 2020, White supremacist organizations are intimidating Black and minorities around the country with guns at certain ballot locations. The more things change in America, the more they stay the same. On November 2, 1920, Election Day, a White mob attacked and killed 30 - 50 African Americans’ in Ocoee, Florida, because they had worked and registered to vote. “In Orange County, as well as the rest of Florida had been politically dominated by Southern White Democrats, since the end of Reconstruction. But, in the weeks leading up to the presidential election of 1920, African Americans throughout the South were registering to vote in record numbers. During this period, the Ku Klux Klan was having a revival and warned the Black community that not a single African American would be permitted to vote,” from Wikipedia Dictionary. On Election Day, African Americans were met with resistance, and some Blacks returned with shotguns. The Whites surrounded Julius “July” Perry’s home and he killed two of the deputized members of the mob. Sam Salisbury was a police chief in Orlando, who was injured in the attack on July Perry’s home, and reinforcements from the Ku Klux Klan and other whites in the surrounding area were called in. This larger group burnt down businesses and homes of the Black community in Ocoee Florida, and lynched Mr. Perry. “After White residents terrorized all the Black residents to leave following the Massacre, Ocoee would remain an all White sundown town, a dangerous place for Black people after dark, until the late 1970, and early 80’s’” says reporter Monivette Cordeiro of the Orlando Sentinel. Systemic discrimination and racism that everyone in Florida acts as thou it does not exist, and no one wants to talk about it. When Trayvon Martin was killed in Sanford Florida walking down the street in 2012, by a neighborhood watch volunteer, he was found innocent of all charges of murder. The legacy of lynching is still a reality in 2020. When the police are able to kill a Black Man, George Floyd, and the community is watching, something is fundamentally wrong with the system. When Breonna Taylor is killed by police in her Louisville home, and only one officer is charged with shooting in another apartment, something is wrong. While more African Americans and people of color have been elected in Central Florida, and around the country, racism is still an issue. Orange County has elected its first Black mayor, Mayor Jerry Demings, and things are changing, but are things moving to slow. Black Lives Matter – Black Vote Matters – and your vote is your voice. But the questions in this election are -will the Black vote be suppressed, and what happens to racism after the election? There are more overt White supremacist groups, who are preparing for war, to take their country back. Today Ocoee looks like any suburban community outside of Orlando, and everyone is always smiling, and wishing you a good day. But 50 years ago if you were Black, you were not allowed in the city after sundown. Racism is still a reality in America, and a smile could still turn into a violent encounter with White people with guns.

America Needs A National Strategic Plan to Fight the Coronavirus

Are President Trump’s Rallies an Indication of His Power?
By Roger Caldwell
The Democrats are struggling in the 2020 presidential campaign. Senator, Bernie Sanders is leading the pack of Democratic candidates, but he is not really a Democrat, so the campaign is really confusing. Senator Sanders is an independent, and a socialist, and with the label of socialist, he will probably lose to President Trump. Sanders is also a progressive, and an advocate of Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and much higher taxes on upper incomes. “The discourse surrounding Bernie Sanders’s campaign has a familiar ring, ‘Stop Sanders’ Democrats Are Agonizing Over His Momentum”, reads a headline in The New York Times this week. As the Democrats are fighting with their own crisis, the Republicans are now the Party of Trump. President Trump’s support comes from the majority of small donations from under $200. Many Americans hate Trump, but 50% of American love him, and they will vote for him another term. Trump has learned how to create bait, and it attracts a crowd, and his rallies are usually 15,000 to 20,000 strong. At Trump’s rallies, he is also attracting Democrats, because he uses bait and data to study their habits. “Quickly after his rally Tuesday in New Hampshire, his media team announced that they received over 50,000 new pieces of data (leads) and 24% of them were from registered Democrats. They were focused like a laser on that number because they only lost the state by 2,000 votes in 2016. Their data also shows if you go to a rally there is an 80% chance of you voting on Election Day,” says Darin Spindler - of Magnetic Marketing. If the Democrats are going to win in 2020, they must study and watch what Trump’s team is doing in their campaign. The Republicans are not fighting amongst themselves, they are organizing and collaborating. “The data is also showing if you go to a rally and you donate a dollar ($1) – there is a 90% chance you will vote on Election Day. Just think, a $1 commitment increases the likelihood of you voting by 10%,” says Darin Spindler. Trump’s rallies are very important to his campaign and he is expanding his voter base. “President Trump’s reelection campaign raked in $46 million in the fourth quarter of 2019 in support of the president’s bid for a second term, the Trump campaign announced last month,” says Melissa Quinn –of CBS News. “The Trump campaign raised $143 million total in 2019 and the year with $102.7 million in cash-on-hand. The $46 million brought in for the last three months of the year represented donations made only to the campaign and does not include money raised by the Republican National Committee or other joint fundraising committees, said the campaigns,” says Melissa Quinn. The Democrats have their work cut out for this election, because the billionaires in the Republican Party are just starting to make their donation. As Michael Bloomberg begins to move up on the list of Democratic candidates many Democrats are happy, because he is worth $60 billion dollars. In 2020, it seems that this presidential election will be centered on the billionaires. This is unprecedented, but elections have always been about who has the most money. When a candidate can spend 2 or 3 billion dollars on a campaign the leadership does not know what to say. The Republicans will raise billions of dollars in the 2020 election. If the Democrats are going to challenge the Republicans, they must also raise billions of dollars to compete.
COMMENTARY: When Lies Start at The White House
By Roger Caldwell As President Donald Trump is impeached in the House, and gets off in the Senate, the system is broken. There is no explanation on how the president can use the power of his office to break the law, while his party accepts and supports his lies. It is very difficult to determine which party is telling the truth, when Trump is not removed from office. This is a strange time in America, when the president is incompetent, dismisses and ignores diplomats and intelligence reports, because he is too lazy to read. The Democrats and the Republicans understood that the President from the very beginning was unfit for the job. It seems as though the majority of Americans are not smart, or educated when it comes to politics. Respect is something that is earned, and it is never given. From the very beginning of President Trump’s campaign, he was disrespectful to everyone, and operated as a criminal god-father. The leaders in his campaign operated as shady characters, and six associates were convicted for breaking the law. The Republicans and the Democrats act as if this never happened, and our President thinks these criminals were good choices. “Since taking office Washington Post fact checkers have tallied roughly 6,500 false claims by Trump. He learned exactly the wrong lesson from winning the election. He became even more convinced that his approach had been right,” says Chris Megerian – LA Times. As a businessman, Donald Trump was long known for grandiose exaggerations, often false statements about the height of his buildings and the size of his wealth. Many of his businesses were fraudulent, and no one knows the correct number of times he has filed bankruptcy. This is the way President Trump has managed his life, with an assortment of criminals, gangsters, prostitutes, and international celebrities as his friends. His father was worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and there were very few things that he was not able to buy. Many will argue that Trump bought the position of the President of the United States, and others will argue that Trump is a political genius, but in November 2016, he became the most powerful man on the planet. Some will say he tricked people into voting for him, others will say he used an effective form of promotion, and his strategy worked. Nevertheless, President Trump has been the leader of the free world for three years, and he wants only loyalists who will do what he says, and donate millions of dollars to his presidential campaign and businesses. Many of his appointees, ambassadors and secretaries are untrained and incompetent, and many of the prestigious post are up for sale. Law professor Barbara McQuade says, “The conduct described in the Mueller report constitutes multiple crimes of obstruction of justice. It’s supported by evidence of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.” With this information, it would appear that President Trump would be removed from office, but the Republican Party is 95% supportive of the president. They agree with everything he says or does, and no one challenges his authority and policies. There is something dangerous with this lack of independent thought, and there is a constitutional crisis in the country. A new Fox poll this Sunday contradicted President Trump, who boasted major support in favor of “No Impeachment.” “But a fresh Fox News poll conducted last week and released Sunday found that a majority of the American electorate wants Trump impeached. Fifty percent are in favor of impeaching and removing, and 41 percent oppose impeachment all together,” says Fox News. America is at a crossroads, and the majority of the Republicans are conservative and White. It is time for integrity and intelligence to lead Americans on a moral path back to sanity. Lies must be exposed and President Trump must be impeached and removed from office.
