Beehives, braids and curled hair raised up like an art installations wowed fashionistas at this year’s Afrik show in the Ivorian city of Abidjan:

They were all the creation of Dieudonne Senato…
The Ivorian hairstylist and make-up artist used hair extensions and even fairy lights for his designs..
This one involved winding hair around cylindrical accessories…
It was a delicate balancing act for the models on the catwalk…
Some of the designs were avant garde…
Others used traditional braids…
The fine netting holding the hair in place also became part of some designs…
And some resembled the pouf style, popular in 18th Century France, and the beehive of the 1960s.
