ORLANDO, FL – Laura Ansley Ayers of Lake Nona High School speaks as “one of the million” students who took Ramsey Solutions’ Foundations in Personal Finance course at her high school. The course was sponsored by Fifth Third Bank, which this month is celebrating with Dave Ramsey on reaching one million students since their sponsorship began in 2010.
“The Dave Ramsey course was like nothing I had ever done before. It covered real life things that I need to know, but no other high school or college level class I have taken provided,” said Ayers. “I’ve already applied some principles from the class to my own life. It was such an eye opener!”
“Our friends at Fifth Third Bank are doing amazing things in the communities they serve, including providing more than one million students with our curriculum, Foundations in Personal Finance,” said Dave Ramsey, personal finance expert and CEO of Ramsey Solutions. “Because of the generosity of sponsors like Fifth Third Bank teens across America are learning how to win with money.”
“The Ramsey curriculum is arguably one of the most important life courses that a student can complete,” said Natalie Harrison, social studies teacher at Pine Castle Christian Academy. “The practicability and real-life application that Foundations in Personal Finance provides students with includes real-world scenarios and personal finance opportunities that students will have to practice throughout their lives.”
Since 2010, Fifth Third Bank has sponsored Dave Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance course in 2,700 high schools throughout Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. In Florida, Fifth Third sponsors the curriculum in 259 high schools, including 68 in Central Florida.
Dave Ramsey created Foundations in Personal Finance, an easy to use, turn-key curriculum that teaches students the value of saving, spending and giving to guide them down the path of financial literacy. Foundations in Personal Finance can be used as a primary or supplemental resource to fulfill requirements in mathematics, economics, family consumer science, business mathematics and personal finance.
Fifth Third Bank is committed to improving lives in the communities it serves. Since 2010, it has delivered its L.I.F.E. (Lives Improved through Financial Empowerment ®) programs to individuals at every age and stage of life as a way to empower community members through quality financial education.
