NAACP to Honor Civil Rights Martyr Harry T. Moore and Wife Harriette

    Orange County Branch President Beverlye Colson Neal announced the 108th Birthday Celebration of the NAACP (National Association For The Advancement of Colored People), the nation’s oldest and most revered civil rights organization. The celebration will be held  at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 13th at the FAMU Law School, Room 204, 201 Beggs Avenue, Orlando FL.  The event will feature and honor the first Martyr of the civil rights movement, Harry T. and his wife Harriette V. Moore who were murdered on Christmas Day 1951 in their home at Mims, Florida in Brevard County.  Included will be a special and enlightening video documentary of the Moores and their world-changing legacy.
     
    The Branch will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23rd at the Northwest Community Center, 3955 W. D. Judge Dr., Orlando, Florida 32805.  A special guest speaker will be Roger B. Handberg, Criminal Chief, Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division of the US Department of Justice.
