April 27, 2016 – The Washington Post has released its annual list of the top high schools in the nation known as the Challenge Index National Rankings.
Not only did 15 OCPS high schools make the list but they made the top 10 percent of the 22,000 public high schools that were eligible. Twelve OCPS high schools even made the top five percent. Winter Park High School ranked in the top one percent.
The Challenge Index recognizes high schools that offer accelerated/challenging coursework to students. Schools achieve a high ranking if the number of accelerated assessments offered (including Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge) is much higher than the number of seniors that graduated that year.
