Please tell me that some high school principal did not call people cowards and then call out Black people at a high school graduation. What was going on and what was her problem?

Dear Miriam:
I wish I could tell you that it wasn’t true, but a principal in Georgia had a complete breakdown at her high school graduation and showed her true racist self. First she messed up the program and dismissed folks before the valedictorian speech then she tried to get it right. When someone yelled something from the audience she called them a coward for not identifying themselves. Then she really went wild when folks began to leave. She yelled out, “Look who’s leaving– all the Black People.” Well you know we were not gonna stand for that mess. Black folks came from everywhere– from the stage, the audience, everywhere. Most said, “I know she didn’t say that mess.” The principal insisted that it was not a statement of racism, but her frustration. She later stated that the “devil was in the room and came out through her mouth. Check it out on UTube. If it wasn’t so outrageous it was almost funny how all of the Black folks responded in sync when they heard her madness. That principal should be fired because she was unable to control her deep seated prejudice.

Dear Sarita:
I think there is one simple answer: Harriett Tubman. I have the utmost respect for Rosa Parks, but I don’t know of any woman who risked their life like Sister Harriet Tubman did. I can’t imagine where she got the courage to keep making trips into the worse slave territories to bring out more and more folks. Heck, she might have brought out Rosa Parks’ grandma.
