The All American International Sports League & Johnson University host the 5th Annual Anti-Bullying Basketball Tournament in Osceola County this Saturday, July 14.
Bully victims are 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims, according to studies by Yale University. 71% of students report incidents of bullying as a problem at their school. 90% of 4th through 8th graders report being victims of bullying. According to bullying statistics, 1 out of every 10 students who drops out of school does so because of repeated bullying. Harassment and bullying have been linked to 75% of school-shooting incidents.
For five years now, the A.A.I.S.L and the Osceola Predators have been sending a message that there are better things to do than pick on others and fight. This year is no different. The message has spread and now we have the support of the State Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Victor M. Torres Jr., Governor Rick Scott, Congressman Daren Soto, Osceola County Commissioner Peggy Choudhry, St. Cloud Police Department, The US Armed Forces, and local businesses such as Abracadabra Ice cream, Culvers, and the Home Depot to mention a few. All will be in attendance
The idea is to make sure there are activities and places to engage children so that there is a minimal chance of hazing; and to make sure all children are safe, healthy and informed.
It all happens at Johnson University, 1011 Bill Beck Blvd, Kissimmee, FL 34744, Saturday July 14th, 2018 from 10 am to 6 pm.
