DELTONA (Jan. 16, 2019) – Homeschoolers, their families, community members, and young entrepreneurs will gather for free workshops, networking with college representatives and local organizations, and the opportunity to support student businesses at Black Homeschoolers of Central Florida Inc. and Brilliant Minds 4-H Club’s Community EXPO 2019.

The event will feature a workshop on “Creating a Healthy Homeschool Environment” led by Dr. Tommy Shavers, president of Shavers Consulting and co-CEO of NESTRE, a brain performance company. Motivational speaker Belinda Windbish will speak on “Homeschooling on a Budget,” and Dorcus Ethridge, founder of Sankofa Online Individualized Learning, will present on “Homeschooling and the Power of Community Resources.” Other workshops will feature pediatric nurse Lorraine Harrigan and educational leader Laverne Forbes.

The public is invited to join in Community EXPO 2019’s events, workshops, and children’s activities, which will take place at the Center at Deltona from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24.

This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to support homeschooling families in the Greater Central Florida area, we feel it is the perfect time to bring our community partners, our homeschooling families, and our young entrepreneurs together under one roof,” said Rasheeda Denning, founder of Black Homeschoolers of Central Florida Inc. “Community EXPO is a perfect opportunity for businesses, clubs, and service organizations to come face-to-face with the families and youth they’ve been wanting to connect with.”

Black Homeschoolers of Central Florida Inc. has been serving the Greater Central Florida homeschool community since 2009, providing support, classes, fieldtrips, and learning opportunities for homeschooled students in grades pre-K to 12 and their families.
