CLEARWATER, Fla. – Top runners from around the country are scheduled to travel to Clearwater, Florida to compete at the 2nd Annual Phil Doganiero 3 Bridge Half Marathon, 5K & 1M for a $25,000 prize purse on Nov. 10.

Elite athletes from as far as New York and California will travel to compete in this year’s event, which is open to all ages and capabilities.

This year’s 3 Bridge Race features a half marathon, 5K and 1-mile fun walk, however, the half marathon and 5K will be the only events with prize money awarded to the winners.

While more than 20 elite runners are already registered, two of the elite runners include Enoch Nadler and Lindsey Scherf. Nadler of Gainesville, Florida is a former runner for the University of Florida, competed in his first marathon Dec. 3 of 2017 at the California International Marathon in Sacramento, California, and finished with a time of 2:18:17 that qualified him for the 2020 Olympic Trials.

Scherf is planning to travel from New Paltz, New York to compete for a share of the $25,000 prize purse. Scherf recently broke the indoor marathon world record at the Armory NYC Indoor Marathon World Record Challenge in March of this year with a time of 20:40:55, according to Armory Track.

“We are thrilled that our race has attracted the attention of such skilled and notable runners from across the country,” said Susan Daniels, race director. “While elite runners will be flocking to this year’s event, amateur runners can also compete for a piece of the prize purse or enjoy a nice day of exercise with the family for a great cause.”

Additionally, representatives of the Phil Doganiero 3 Bridge Race, which benefits Clearwater For Youth, announced last week the roll-out of a registration discount code for military members, veterans and first responders registering for this year’s race, which is scheduled to take place Nov. 10.

All active duty and reserve members of the military, veterans and first responders can receive $10 off their race registration by using the discount code: 18WESALUTEYOU when registering.

Registration is currently open for up to 4,000 runners who can participate in the event with elite runners and will be able to compete for their portion of the $25,000 prize purse Nov. 10. The half marathon, 5K and 1-mile fun walk starting at 7 a.m., 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., respectively.

The half marathon will begin in Clearwater at Coachman Park, where participants will run over Clearwater Memorial Causeway, Sand Key Bridge and Belleair Causeway Bridge before returning to Coachman Park.

All three courses are USATF certified and runners who complete the half marathon will be able to use their time to qualify for other USATF races.

If sold out, race organizers expect the event to raise more than $250,000 for Clearwater For Youth, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which supports local youth athletic programs by providing grants and provides scholarships for athletes who are from the area. CFY is dedicated to building character through sports and helping provide young athletes a foundation to succeed in life.

The Inaugural Phil Doganiero 3 Bridge Race in 2017 raised more than $150,000 for Clearwater For Youth.
