Lee Boyd Malvo

Lee Boyd Malvo was 17 when he was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the Washington D.C. area sniper attacks that polarized the nation nearly 15 years ago.  He and his partner in crime, John Allen Muhammad, were arrested in 2002 for killing 10 people and wounding 3 others in D.C., Maryland and Virginia.  The killings were random and caused widespread fear throughout the area.

John Muhammad was sentenced to death, and later executed.
Pointing to the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that mandatory life sentences for juveniles are unconstitutional, a federal court judge said Malvo is entitled to new sentencing hearings.
