Five Orlando-area students, the most ever from Central Florida, are among the 100 teens selected to participate in Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE magazine – a four-day, immersive and transformational mentoring program that kicked off Thursday at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Applications for the 2020 Disney Dreamers Academy are now open at www.DisneyDreamersAcademy.com.

The 100 students were selected from thousands of applicants nationwide for this once-in-a-lifetime mentoring program designed to assist them in identifying and pursuing their dreams. The students, along with a parent or guardian, received an all-expense-paid trip to Disney to participate in the program, which features a series of career-oriented workshops and leadership seminars.

Celebrity participants include Ruth Carter (Academy Award-winning costume designer for “Black Panther”), Miles Brown (ABC’s “black-ish”) and JD McCrary (voice of young Simba in 2019’s “The Lion King”).
