Jeb Bush has joined the huge number of Republican candidates for president with unofficial announcement that he is running for the office of President.  He says he wants to be the candidate to beat.  His website heralds June 15 as the date the announcement will be made official.

Bush may actually be the front-runner in this crowd today– even before the official announcement.  After all, he is the son of one President Bush and the brother of another.  He also brings experience as the former governor of our state, and the sum total of all of this is that he has access to people with money.

Bush’s announcement followed by a couple of days the entry of former Texas Gov. Rick Perry into the race.  Perry ran unsuccessfully for the office in 2012, when his presidential bid ended in disaster.  He says he want to “end an era of failed leadership.”

The stage is now set for the face-off of two highly regarded political families with vastly different ideological views. Bush will be hard to beat among the Republican challengers.  Expect the final run for the office to feature Hillary Rodham Clinton as the Democratic nominee.
