President Obama will deliver the eulogy Friday during the funeral service for the pastor killed in last week’s massacre at a historic black church in South Carolina, the White House announced Monday.
Obama and Vice President Biden will travel Friday to Charleston to pay respects to the victims of the deadly shooting, the White House said.
Clementa Pinckney, a Democratic state senator and pastor of Emanuel African Methodist Church, was among nine people shot and killed at the church Wednesday night during a prayer meeting by a white gunman, who allegedly told witnesses he was there to “kill black people.”
The suspect, Dylann Storm Roof, 21, was charged Friday with nine counts of murder.
