The administration recognizes what we have always known, that and reproductive health care is health care.
WASHINGTON, DC– President Biden and Vice-President Harris won the election for more than 7 million votes and has a clear mandate to protect and expand access to and reproductive health care — including abortion — in the United States and around the world. According to recent surveys, 63 per cent of voters who chose the new administration say that politicians trying to restrict or prohibit access to abortion played an important role when deciding for who to vote for president. Today, they took the first crucial steps to fulfil their promises through executive action.

“We have one of the initial steps that will lead us to resume the total possession of our bodies, our health and our future. At the same time as we continue to face a pandemic that has claimed many lives, it is also very clear that people need access to health care within their pockets and that science — not politics — should guide the creation of public policies. Both the global and domestic morgue law have caused immense damage, and we applaud the rapid action of the Biden-Harris administration today to address these dangerous policies. President Biden and Vice-President Harris began to correct the grievances of the last four years, but this must only be the beginning. There is still a lot of work to be done to ensure that all people have the freedom to make their own choices about their health care, such as putting an immediate end to unnecessary restrictions on access to abortion, to permanently repeal the global morbidity law, and to eliminate discriminatory Hyde and Helms Amendments. We look forward to working with this administration and the majority in favour of reproductive health in Congress to protect and expand rights and access to and reproductive health care for all people in the United States and around the world.”
With today’s executive actions, the Biden-Harris administration ends with the end of the year. Global morbidity law, which prohibits non-governmental organizations abroad from providing any kind of comprehensive United States health assistance if they provide information, referrals or services for legal abortions or advocate the legalization of abortion in their countries, even if these activities are carried out only with the support of non-United States funds. Study after study— including those of the State Department of Trump administration — have shown that this policy caused devastating damage to access to health care for people around the world, especially for those who already face systematic barriers to access. Recent surveys found that 70 per cent of people in the United States support putting an end to the global morbidity law. Beyond today’s actions, the administration must work with Congress to approve the Global HER record and to permanently and finally repeal the global deadly law.
Though no immediate end has been put in place. Domestic morbidity law, the administration also started the critical process of reviewing harmful changes in the Trump administration to Title X, the country’s only federal programme dedicated to providing contraceptives and other preventive and reproductive health care available to the pocket. The domestic morbidity law forced suppliers such as Planned Parenthood, which are essential to the communities, to withdraw from the programme: six states They no longer have any supplier of Title X, creating even more barriers to paid health care, which also affects people with the Medicaid Health Care Program. Due to centuries of systemic racism, homophobia and transphobia, most people using Medicaid are disproportionately Latin, black, and community members LGBTQ+.
The Biden-Harris administration also disapproved. Declaration of the Geneva Consensus, an abhorrent anti-abortion and anti-LGBT initiative of Trump administration, restored funding for critical work in maternal and reproductive health of the United Nations Population Fund around the world, and took steps to strengthen Medicaid, the country’s main source of and reproductive health coverage. It also initiated a registration period for the Act. Health care at low prices (ACA), which is a critical resource during this global economic and health crisis, which has caused so many people to lose their coverage when they need it more. Including these ACA and Medicaid actions from the other actions today, the Biden-Harris administration clearly recognized that access to and reproductive health care should not be stigmatized, politicized or separated.— they are an essential part of the care we need to live healthy lives.
