The Gantt Report, by Lucius Gantt
There are people in America and around the world that wake up every day and try to find something wicked to do to Blacks, Hispanics, immigrants, Native Americans and poor people.
Too many of us have eyes but can’t see. Those friends and neighbors of ours that fail to recognize privilege, bias, unfairness, lack of access to capital, legal injustice, economic exploitation, community degradation via gentrification and other racially constructed roadblocks cannot have a reliable vision for our collective future.
So-called radicals, revolutionaries, activists, rabble rousers and troublemakers are mad because they “can’t make a speech, can’t teach, can’t preach, can’t get a job, can’t get out of jail and can’t pay bills.”
You tell me, because I don’t know any of the above described persons that are interested in being an exploitation employee, an oppression worker, a closet klan sympathizer or be like Ricard Pryor once said, “Happy, ‘cause you’ve been here 400 years.”
You see, life in general, as well as political life, financial life, religious life and social life can cut both ways.
When you plot and scheme to kill the hopes and dreams of victimized people of different skin colors, oftentimes you are killing yourself and your dream and desires.
If your elected officials that are paid significant salaries to represent you are quiet when we are being mistreated, misled and misinformed, he or she is not the candidate that you should vote for.
For instance, when you pass a law to suppress Black votes, every vote is suppressed. White voters can’t early vote, rural voters can’t utilize a convenient vote drop box and the white senior voters that live in gentrified neighborhoods will have to stand in vote lines for four or five hours on every election day just like we do.
When you want to stop families from getting help with child care, families from getting lower priced prescription drugs and families from getting convenient and affordable health care, you are stopping you own families from getting those services.
Don’t run to the wicked and evil lies, run away from the lies, and run away from the liar!
The political plot is this, just lie every day and if the people hear all of us lying, soon they’ll believe us. We don’t need policies. We don’t need programs. We need candidates in 2022 and 2024 who will agree to spread every lie that they can.
In my opinion, we need to stop depending on Democratic Party messaging. They don’t fact check political lies, they don’t respond to inaccurate statements and reports and they will never strike first and educate people about exactly what goes on before the big and little lies are far and wide.
Stevie Wonder can see we have to believe in each other. We have to educate our children in the best way for our families and communities, we have to protect and serve each other and we have to love each other.
Something wicked may be coming but something honorable, someone brave and someone wise will insure that good prevails over evil.
