Twenty-five-year-old Timothy Randall Korr, an employee of the Baltimore Curriculum Project, a network of charter schools around Baltimore, was arrested and charged with child abuse after 7-year-old Trayvon Grayson. His mother’s first view of the injuries happened while the 7-year-old was lying in the ambulance. She turned to look at the tutor and Korr told her that while he was removing an unruly Trayvon from class, the child lost his footing and “hit himself” on the wall.
The explanation only incensed Trayvon’s mother, Lateekqua Jackson.
“He can’t throw himself into the wall and fracture his jaw and lose his teeth,” she said. “He’s only 7 years old.
Police examined the boy at the hospital and learned that he was suffering from major trauma to his head, in addition to a fractured jaw and two missing teeth. They quickly determined that Korr had committed a crime.
He was charged with first- and second-degree child abuse, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and neglect of a minor.
Korr has been terminated. No trial date has been set as of yet.
