A nonprofit facilities grant closes October 16; a District 3 photography call remains open through December 15.

CENTRAL FLORIDA — Arts organizations and individual photographers have different opportunities on the calendar this fall, and the first step is choosing the one that fits the applicant. One supports eligible cultural facilities in Osceola County. The other invites Orlando photographers to document birds within the city’s District 3.
United Arts lists October 16 at 11:59 p.m. as the deadline for the Osceola County Cultural Facilities & Venues program. Its eligibility summary identifies registered nonprofit arts and cultural organizations physically located and operating in the county for at least two years. Proposed facilities must be open to the public. Program requirements and application link
The program covers eligible repairs, renovations, construction and equipment. It is not a general operating subsidy, and expenses incurred before a grant agreement is executed are ineligible. Applicants should organize ownership or lease documentation and a defined project scope before committing work they hope the grant will cover. The administrator does not specify a time zone beside the published cutoff; submit early or confirm it directly.
Orlando’s Birds in Focus competition has a December 15 deadline, listed at 11:59 p.m. The city invites Orlando photographers to submit bird images taken within District 3. Twelve photographs will be selected for a February 5–6, 2027, exhibition at Faith Arts Village Orlando. Audience voting will determine prizes of $500, $250 and $150. City photography call
The city says the selected photographs will be printed and framed without cost to the participating artists. That removes a specified exhibition expense, although selection and a cash prize are not guaranteed. Check the submission instructions and geographic requirement before preparing an entry; a photograph taken elsewhere in Central Florida does not meet the stated location requirement simply because its photographer lives in Orlando.
For smaller cultural groups and independent creatives, the useful next step is modest: establish eligibility, collect the requested materials and save a submission confirmation. These notices are opportunities to compete, not award announcements. Both deadlines remain ahead as of October 3, and neither program requires treating an expired workshop or earlier promotional event as a condition that has been newly reopened.
