THE GANTT REPORT, By Lucius Gantt

If you take a few minutes to examine the history of both major political parties in America, you will discover that the Republican and Democratic parties have both welcomed members, at times, that have been described as racists, nationalists, segregationists, separatists and supremacists.

I’m sure you’ve heard of Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis and you might know about Strom Thurmond and Lester Maddox.

Believe it or not, Black citizens and voters have occasionally put Democrats and Republicans first and both parties, more often than not, have put the political interests and desires of Black citizens last.

Every year, more and more Black voters identify themselves as “Independent” or as voters with No Political Affiliation.

Many of us feel there is little or no difference in the members of political parties when it comes to sponsoring and passing legislation that has purpose and meaning for African Americans.

However, God will take care of His believers. The Father has finally sent us a political warrior!

When I’m on the playground watching youths play basketball, many young boys and girls declare they, “want to be like Mike”!

In 2022, all elected officials should “want to be like Fani”!

Fani Willis is the District Attorney for Fulton County Georgia.

A variety of governmental committees, justice departments and politicians are investigating attacks on the United States Capitol and attempts to disrupt government proceedings and overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s office has a smaller budget and a smaller staff than the United States Congress and her team is much smaller than the United States Department of Justice which includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Fani went to work when so-called big wig politicians pressured Georgia’s Republican election officials to toss out legal and honorable votes cast by Georgia voters and Donald Trump asked the chief election official in the Peach State to find him nearly 12,000 votes.

Willis, a graduate of Howard University and the Emory Law School, is showing the world how an elected official should act.

To her, no one is above the law! Don’t sleep on the fearless Black woman because Fani ain’t playing.

It hasn’t happened yet, but Donald Trump may be taking a midnight train to Georgia to testify why he and his supporters, like Lindsey Graham, targeted votes by Fulton County’s and Atlanta’s Black voter’s legal ballots to be dismissed, destroyed or disrespected.

I sometimes criticize elected officials but the late publisher of The Capitol Outlook in Tallahassee, Roosevelt Wilson, said, I give politicians roses too when they deserve them.

When I voted for Fani, I didn’t even know her but she looked like she was not afraid to do her job and be a fair prosecutor.

I don’t volunteer to work on too many political campaigns now but I will gladly assist her if she wants me to. I get paid to do the wild thing but Fani can get a pass.

If you are an elected official or a candidate for public office all the people desire are politicians that will do the jobs they were hired to do.

We don’t want a parrot, a rubber stamp or a political bamboozler. We want more elected officials like Fani!
