(Miami, FL) – Today a Quinnipiac poll was released stating medical marijuana is still favored by Florida voters. According to the poll on 1,087 Floridians, support for medical marijuana is at 84%.
That comes as no surprise to United for Care’s Campaign Manager, Ben Pollara, who stated, “We know the majority of Floridians want their doctor to be able to recommend medical marijuana based on last election, so this poll is not shocking.” Last election was a midterm election which had the lowest turnout in decades, yet 58% of those who showed up voted in favor of medical marijuana. While that was just shy of the 60% needed to pass, Ben Pollara reminds us that it was half a million more votes than Rick Scott received.
Ben continued to say, “Hopefully this will be a push to our legislatures to act accordingly, but if they do not make their move for a reasonable law, then we will.” United for Care is in a better position than they were last time around as they have already began collecting petitions. To date, United for Care has collected just under 50,000 petitions and they are prepared to redouble their efforts after sessions ends.
