The top is a lonely place to be. The weight of the world literally resting on your shoulders. No decision will appease everyone. There is always constant criticism from one or another. Back-seat driving and Monday morning quarterbacking abound. Every word spoken is dissected, every action (past and present) subjected to intense scrutiny.
To be able to work and live in that kind of pressure cooker despite– or perhaps because of the color of your skin– and stay true to who you are as a person and a man, deserves our recognition and heartfelt acclaim. Thanks, President Obama, for making everybody important to you.
