Attorney General Loretta Lynch apologized– of a sort– for her impromptu meeting with former President Bill Clinton at the Phoenix shy Harbor Airport earlier this week.  It appears the meeting  was not planned, and that the two simply happened to be in the same place at the same time.  But they stopped and met for a time before going their separate ways.Clinton and Lynch have known each a long time.  Clinton nominated her to serve as U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of New York back in 1999.  That familiarity in the face of the on-going investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of her private email accounts for government business raised a number of eyebrows after word of the meeting got out.’

To head off the coming firestorm, Lynch publicly disclosed the meeting and acknowledged that it had “cast a shadow” over the investigation.  She was pretty much forced to announce that Mrs. Clinton’s matter “will be resolved by the team that has been working on it from the beginning.”

“I certainly wouldn’t do this again,” she said about her meeting with the former president.
