Bike Month Activities this May include the Mayor’s Annual Bike to Work Day this Friday

WHAT:

This Friday, May 6, 2016, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will lead hundreds of Central Florida residents as they pedal into work as part of National Bike Month and the City’s 17th annual Bike to Work Day event.

As part of the event, participants will get free coffee and bike tune-ups before the ride, which will take cyclists from Orlando Festival Park into Downtown Orlando.
WHY:
Participants will not only celebrate Bike Month by taking part in this event, but also help the City further its efforts in becoming the City Bikeable.
Since 2003, Mayor Dyer has helped to transform Orlando’s urban environment and enhance and invest in bike amenities, including installing bike repair stations and wayfinding signage, expanding our bike trails and creating the first sharrow route and adding green bicycle pavement markings.
Today, Orlando is home to more than 300 miles of urban trails, signed routes and lanes created specifically for biking, with nearly 35 miles of these off-street.
