Mayor Teresa Jacobs Provides Commencement Address at University of Central Florida

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs addressed the University of Central Florida College of Health & Public Affairs class of 2018 on May 5, 2018 at the CFE Arena.

Mayor Jacobs received an honorary doctorate degree from President Hitt for public service, commitment to the betterment of Orange County for everyone and being a champion of UCF. Additionally, Mayor Jacobs provided the commencement address for graduating students.

“I can feel the electricity and excitement in this room,” Mayor Jacobs said. “This room is filled with something special, something incredibility powerful and inspiring. This room is overflowing with what I call ‘public service DNA’ – that special quality that some people are born with. It’s that overwhelming desire to make a difference in the lives of others.”

During her remarks, Mayor Jacobs shared her personal experience in public service and gave the graduates advice as they embark on a new chapter in their lives.

“You’ve got one shot at life, do not waste it. Follow you heart and find your passion,” Mayor Jacobs said.
