Mayor Jacobs received an honorary doctorate degree from President Hitt for public service, commitment to the betterment of Orange County for everyone and being a champion of UCF. Additionally, Mayor Jacobs provided the commencement address for graduating students.
âI can feel the electricity and excitement in this room,â Mayor Jacobs said. âThis room is filled with something special, something incredibility powerful and inspiring. This room is overflowing with what I call âpublic service DNAâ â that special quality that some people are born with. Itâs that overwhelming desire to make a difference in the lives of others.â
During her remarks, Mayor Jacobs shared her personal experience in public service and gave the graduates advice as they embark on a new chapter in their lives.
âYouâve got one shot at life, do not waste it. Follow you heart and find your passion,â Mayor Jacobs said.
