Recently, the City began improvements to the Loch Haven Cultural Park to enhance the experience of all who visit its many attractions.
To highlight these enhancements, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 3 City Commissioner Robert Stuart will work-along with City staff to pour and smooth concrete to create new sidewalks in the park. The sidewalks are a part of the City’s Orlando Walks program to enhance pedestrian safety and increase accessibility throughout the City. These new sidewalks in Loch Haven will connect to the Orlando Urban Trail and SunRail station stop at Florida Hospital providing visitors to the park convenient and safe travel options.
The new sidewalks are just one of the many upgrades and new additions the City is working on for the park. Other enhancements include expanding the main walkways within the bowl area of the park, improving ADA connections, upgrading street lighting with LED technology and installing new wayfinding signage.
New additions to the park include a performance plaza and gathering space for outdoor gathering and events. A new art piece will also be installed at the Florida Hospital SunRail stop to welcome guests to the park.
The entire Loch Haven Cultural Park enhancement project is expected to be complete by mid-2016.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 3 City Commissioner Robert Stuart and City Staff members will roll up their sleeves and start the process of installing the new sidewalks on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, 10:30 a.m., at Loch Haven Cultural Park, 777 East Princeton Street, near the Orlando Science Center.
