cerviniHon. Donna L. (Bost) Cervini, 72, longtime resident of Oak Park, IL, died peacefully at her daughter’s home March 25, 2014, surrounded by her family, in San Diego, CA. Former spouse of the late Lawrence A. Cervini, loving mother of Cynthia E. Cervini, and Christine C. Wong and husband, Joe Wong, daughter of the late Mary Ellen (McDermott) and the late John William Bost, sister of Joanne Halle, Mary Silbaugh, Faith Katchmar, Jim Connolly, Carol Ostrander, Nancy Makela, and proud grandmother of Drew, Siena, and Stephen Wong.

Donna attended Wheeling Jesuit University, Wheeling, WV and, in 1971, began her legal career at Northwestern University Law School, graduating in 1975 with her JD. Upon graduation, Donna worked for the IL Dept. of Professional Regulation; private practice; and, in 1985, was appointed an Assoc. Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, IL, until retiring in 2002.

Donna leaves behind a legacy of charitable and community service including: Pittsburgh Catholic Interracial Counsel, Oak Park Housing Center, OPRF Citizens Comm. for Human Rights, St. Giles Family Mass Community, Lawyers’ Assistance Program, IL Child Death Review, ABA Commiss. for the Impaired Attorney, OP Police and Fire Commiss., International Women Associates. Donna marched for civil rights, participated in the anti-apartheid movement for South Africa and was a draft counselor against the Vietnam War.

A memorial service to honor Donna is set for Saturday, May 3, 2014 at St. Giles Church in Oak Park, IL. Visitation at 9:00 a.m. followed by 10:30 a.m. Mass, and a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be made in her name to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) (www.ovarian.org) and Westwood Elementary, 17449 Matinal Road, San Diego, CA 92127 (Tax ID# 23-7350795).

Alternatively, she would have appreciated simply that you perform an act of service and kindness for someone in need.
