The Administration is issuing new executive orders making it even harder for Americans to vote. ICE recently 20-year-old American citizen Juan Carlos Gomez 48 hours even though his mother came to court with his birth certificate and social security card to prove he was born in this country.
Why is this happening?
Maybe because they have seen the reactions of ordinary American citizens to the policies of the current regime.
Even though the courts have temporarily stopped the deportations of hundreds of thousands of voting immigrants– like the naturalized Cuban and Venezuelan citizens who voted for Trump– MAGA Republicans know that these same voters will turn against them in the next election. So they won’t stop. They can’t afford to have these now “woke” voters go back to the polls. They are more determined than ever to get rid of them– and all those who stand in opposition to their attacks on constitutional protections.
All of critical thinking America is now focused on voting the complacent and complicit Republicans out.
If you sit out the mid-term elections, you will be dooming the nation and the future of its — and your– children to the loss of nearly every freedom you presently enjoy. It begins and ends with the right to vote.
There are Voter Registration portals in every state. Google them. Make sure you are registered, but more importantly, start putting together all the documents you will need to prove you are an American citizen and entitled to vote and to be in this country.
The word to you is: be prepared.
- Get an official copy of your birth certificate.
- Get an updated social security card.
- Renew your passport if you have one (it’s another form of official identification).
- Make sure your driver’s license is a “Real ID.”
- Get a State ID if you don’t have a driver’s license. Make sure it is a “Real ID.”
- If you changed your name through the courts, get an official copy of your Name Change Order showing both your birth name and your name today.
- LADIES: if you took your husband’s last name after marriage, get a copy of your marriage license to explain why your name today is different from your name at birth.
Don’t be lazy. Don’t be apathetic. Ask yourself this question: “What if?”

ICE agents are generally protected from civil lawsuits by qualified immunity, but they can be sued as individuals in civil court if their conduct violates “clearly established” constitutional or statutory rights that a reasonable officer would have known.
The right of an American citizen to due process is the most foundational of our constitutional rights every reasonable officer is expected to know.
Be able to show these bad actors all the paperwork they need to know you are an American citizen with constitutional rights. And document everything that happens to you.
This is important because we’re of the opinion that the fastest way to make these agents think twice about illegally detaining American citizens is to threaten suing them personally, winning big judgments, and going after their bank accounts and their homes when they can’t pay.
